Wearing and inventory
lets start out with what to wear and bring.
if you dont know the barrows i suggest maging the 4 melee brothers.
so you need magic boosting stuff, some plate for the tunnels, some range armour for ahrim and a melee wep and crossbow/bow.
and of course a prayer potion, spade and teleport are 100% musts. other usefull stuff includes runes for the spells you'll wanna cast and food.
you can of course use mystic instead of the infinity (especially for your first runs), and a scim instead of the whip.
Useful things before you go
i like to use my house when i do lots of barrows, i have it set up so the chapel is right next to the entrance, and the portal room adjacent to that, with a canifis portal in it.
this means when you teleport to your house from the barrows you can quickly recharge prayer and teleport back to canifis and bank for another run.
How to get there
the easiest bank to use is the canifis one, while the burgh de rott bank is closer, running back and forth, and out of the tunnel makes it longer in the long run.
there are two paths from canifis, the red one is the secret tunnel from "in search of the myreque", and the blue one requires no quests. the red one is faster, and brings you through less ghouls, which means less food lost to rotting.
there are 6 "bosses" in the barrows, the 6 barrows brothers Ahrim, Dharok, Verac, Karil, Guthan and Torag. they were legendary warriors who fought valiantly to defeat the armies of evil during the godwars, and for a long time they slew the evil hordes, but in the end they perished. and were buried in big mounds where they now reside.
as you go around you will want to stand at the top of a mound, and dig with your spade, this will drop you into a crypt, with a big coffin in the middle. in this coffin lies a brother. when you search it he will of course jump up and attack you. they have different abilities, similar to those of the barrows set bonuses. once you've killed him make sure to leave quickly as every 15 or so seconds down there it drains 10 prayer points!
i will describe them in the order i usually kill them, i usually kill Verac, Dharok and karil first, because you really need prayer for these, and then Ahrim, Guthan and Torag where prayer isn't quite as neccesary at 80+ def.
Ahrim will drain your defense level every now and then, again nothing major, and if you wear black d hides his hits aren't that bad (he can still throw a couple of 20's so watch your health!)
basically you will come down in one of the corner rooms with ladders (only this ladder will be visible to you), and 3 doors in the room will be locked. which means you have to go through the last door, and usually you have to go all the way around to get the the puzzle door(marked red) that you can open.
@#$% Puzzles
when you want to open the door to the middle room in the tunnel you will be presented with a puzzle, these are very simple, but made annoying by the fact that there's 5 skeletons queueing to get to you they can be quite stressing, so have a good look at them before you go.
also see the video in the bottom for how to do this.
Random tips its can be a good idea to bring a DDS for specs, and a whip or scim for most of the fighting. remember your prayer pot! even if you are high level and can do without it its a very good backup plan. you can of course use house tele tabs instead of runes like i did. you can watch this video to see it all done in action, including the ladder trick. killcount does not affect chance of barrows items, only the ammount of brothers you killed. its suggested that you get about 15 killcount, as less than 10 will mean drastically less runes, and more than 20 is a waste of time.
very nice and detailed guide, be good for those who are not too sure on what to do
my preferd order is this however: Dharok (obvious reasons, get him out of the way quickly), karils (piety on him, for me he tends to go down fast with DDS specs) IF i have prayer left then i go for ahrim, piety on too, just normally whip him, tends to go down fast too. if i DON'T have prayer i just go right to verac and take him on normally (i see little point on going to him with prayer, yeah it minimizes damage but its better used elsewhere due to his spec). then guthan then torag (no real reason for the order of the last to, both are easy enough, though torag can sometime have a big KO ability, hes the only barrows bro ive died to before.)
also my personal armour is proslyte, mainly cus for slayer dart, it doesn't matter TOO MUCH what your magic bonus is (though higher will mean its more accurate)
It barely matters at all what your magic bonus is with ANY spell.........the barrows bro's have such low mage def they get hit all the time ;p i prefer bringing guthans and a full inv of prayer pots with slayer dart.....you can basicly stay there forever lol heal on karil with guth kill ahrim with karils+whip then just slayer dart the rest and heal in the tunnels
