Not sure if this would be better as an article, but it's only semi-rs related.





TWC's DNS servers were crappy, so I switched over to open ages ago, and they have a neat way of saving you time, more time than looking things up in irc.



I can type "rw calc" to get to http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calc which beats !rswiki calc

or.. "ge dragonfire" to get to http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/results.ws?query=dragonfire



or just plain "fb" to get to facebook.



I can set up a shortcut to any link with a parameter at the end.



So how does it work?

Well, if it seems worth it..

1. Make an Opendns account (free).

2. Set your router to use their dns servers (they have a mountain of guides if you run into trouble).

3. Set up your shortcuts (in the dashboard).





is how I have mine set up. I'm certain you can think of better ways of usin this though =P



Note that this will only work when using your own router(s). You might have a dumb streak like me and wonder why it wont work on your school's net P:



Also, knowing how to trunkate urls helps. For instance: http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=testing&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=CRU1I7kALTOSrC6KQMv-b_LIKAAAAqgQFT9DjGYo&fp=62c7546c9e19fcb7 can be shortened to http://www.google.com/#q=testing making more parameter links available.
