  • The King Black Dragon

The King Black Dragon is extemely easy to defeat alone as long as you know what to do. Teaming it is excellent because you defeat it quickly and usually take minimum damage. This will show those of you who don't know how to defeat it some proper ways to do so. =)

    The Risks
The King Black Dragon is massive with 276 combat and having 3 heads, each of which has a different effect.
The First head has a poison effect which deals 8 damage everytime you take poison damage.
The Second head has a breath that has a chance to reduce your stats at the same time doing damage.
The Third head is an ice breath. This is somewhat similar to an Ice spell from ancients except you cannot attack at all if you are within
    melee range(with ancients you can).

    Recommended Combat(For Teams) Recommended Combat(Soloing)
    90+ Combat 110+ Combat
    85+ Attack 90+attack
    80+ Strength 90+Strength
    80+ Defense 90+ Defense
50+ Prayer 70+Prayer(you can use piety at this level)
37 Prayer is the minimum you can get away with
you need magic if you are at a distance and melee if
    you are up close.

    What to Bring
For what you wear, you need to have high magic defense as
he will alot of times hit you with magical attacks less then
melee, and yes he does know what prayer your using sometimes
    and changes his attack style.

    Wearing
Helm: helm of Neitzinot(forgot spelling sorry)
Amulet: Glory or Fury depending on what you can afford or want to risk
Cape: Fire cape>Skill cape>Obsidian Cape > Legends cape (The first is the best and goes to least defense bonus
Top: Karil's top > Black d'hide (you can use other d'hides too but the bonus wont be as effective
Bottom: Karil's skirt> Black d'hide (you can use other d'hides too but the bonus wont be as effective
Boots: Climbing Boots or Infinity Boots(you shouldn't use dragon because they actually lower your magic defense)
Ring: Ring of wealth (it gives you a 25% better chance of getting a rare drop, there is a downside however, some of the rare drops from monsters are actually worthless in the market, such as rune javelins from metal dragons)
Shield: Dragonfire Shield is highly recommended because of its defense bonus but if you cannot afford one then you must use an anti-dragon shield
Weapon: Abyssal Whip, you can use things like a Dragon scimitar too but they will hit less often
Gloves: Gloves from recipe for disaster adamant or above(barrows is best)

    Inventory
    Around 4 Prayer Potions(4)
    Super set
    Dragon Dagger(p++)
    Antifire Potion(4)
    Super Anti-poison(4)
    A one click teleport
    Sharks
The above items should fill your entire inventory
If you choose to range then replace the super attack and strength with 2 more sharks.

    Getting there
The only way i would recommend to get there is to go north from edgeville until you reach Bounty hunter then go around the left side of it and straight until you come to the lava maze, and finally follow it left until you find the lesser demons. You will want to be quick about getting here as the revenants tend to attack alot near here. Once your near the lesser demons, go down the ladder. I don't recommend going from the Ardougne Wildy Switch either because knights are there most of the time waiting for you which would cause alot of your food to be wasted already.

    Fighting Him (Team)
Once you go down the ladder you will be near 5 lvl 64 poisonous spiders. Drink 1 dose of Anti-fire, Anti-poison, Super Defense,Attack, and Strength. Now equip your Dragon Dagger(p++) and pull the lever on the Southern wall.

Once inside put on Protect from magic immeditely until you come within his melee range. When you are within melee range put Protect from melee on. Have your team spread out around him, this way he is spending more time circling around and less time attacking you and your team. Use all of your Dagger's specials first and then switch to your main weapon. Just stay on him hitting him while keeping an eye on your hitpoints and prayer level. The most he will do damage wise is about 13 max with his breaths while fighting him this way. One he is defeated pick up your drops if any and then wait about 45 seconds and drink another antifire potion and any others, depending on how fast your team killed him. Without the antifire, this attacks will go from 13 to near 20. If you choose to range him from a distance then you will be hit alot more often and you must use a Crossbow. Anything less then a runecross bow and Adamantite bolts is a complete waste of money(unless your 99 range and are potted). The amount you can kill will depend entirely on how fast your team kills him and how much food and pots you use while doing so.

    Fighting Him(Solo)
The same applies as before. Drink 1 dose of each of your potions(except prayer) before pulling the switch. Once inside again use protect from magic until your within melee range and then switch to that. As you are soloing him be aware that you will be hit alot more often by his breaths and well only be able to kill about 7 max before having to bank unless your combat is maxed out. Keep an eye on your hitpoints at all times glancing to check your prayer every so often as well. If you choose to use any stat boosting prayers then do so! Piety is extremely useful in fighting him tho it will lower your prayer rather quickly. Do not take any high risks with him while soloing it can take an instant for him to kill you if you run out of prayer or food.

    The Drops
The King Black Dragon drops many dragon armor items alot more frequently then other monsters. The most prized drop from him however is the draconic visage being worth over 20mil gp. It is used to make the powerful Dragonfire shield.

If anyone wants any more information then just ask me and I will find out and post it. =) Sorry I couldn't get any pictures ><.
