  • 99 Range using Chins at Mummies

Do you always want to go to Godwars for some real nice drops?

But are you that nubbish that your friends only want to go Bandos with you cause You don't have 90+ ranged?
well I'll teach you how to show them you aren't a noob by getting 99 ranged in just a couple days

    Table of Contents:
What you need to takeInventoryGetting thereI'm there! What now?How to pile themNon-Aggressive?DropsF.A.Q.Credits

    1: What do u need
    - red chinchomp's
    - good ranged armor
    - prayer potions
    - range potions
    - telegrab runes
    - lots of time
    - and money of course (this is a very expensive way to get 99 ranged but its effective)
    - teletabs

    2: The inventory
Side note: I always gear up in edge cause that's the closest place to my spot

    image

off course there are better outfits like void etc but i don't care i use this and that's my choise :-)

    image

    3: Getting to the spot
    image

go down in the cave and you will be at gargoyles (pray Melee if you think it's needed)

    image

the red dot is the rope where you came down
to get to my spot take the dark blue spot (if you go in the portal i advice you to put protect against meee on)

4: Okay I'm at the right place but the mummies are all spread like omg

good thing for u the mummies are aggressive :-)
u just let them follow u

so put run on and start luring them all (u should have protect against Melee on all the time now)

    image
blue dot where u come in the First time
red dot is for when they get non aggressive but I'll come back on that later

    5: Finally some action
pot up put eagle eye prayer on make sure your attack style is on short fuse
    and start hitting the mummies.

While your attacking u run from left to right and right to left while keeping 1 square in the middle

    6: What, they stopped attacking me image/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />.
After a while the mummies get non aggressive just use the teleport to the zammy mages
    img src="http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/9559/spotkp1.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />
red dot (i go 1 portal further to dust devils most of the time but thats not realy needed)

WARNING: the portals don't always teleport you to the same place u might use the correct portal but you will get teleported to a random place sometimes so watch out if u see bronze dragons make sure pray against Mage is on on time and get away there as fast as u can
And manage your way too the mummies again or just tele gear back up and go back img src="http://www.runeology.org/forums/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

    8: FAQ

    1) But I see loads of people do mummies like this why is your method better?
    image

well my method is better cause u pile them all, so you always hit all your mummies.
If you do the method above you have trouble getting them in the right position.
If you follow my method you just need to run to the other spot and the mummies are piled again
and you only lose 2-3 mummies with this but you save more prayer cause you don't have to run around that much image/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

    2) How much xp can i get /hour ?
    You gained 295,763 ranged exp in 1hr 21mins 8secs. That's 218,723 exp/h.
    You gained 98,303 hitpoints exp in 1hr 21mins 8secs. That's 72,652 exp/h.

    3) how much chinning did you do?
    from lvl 86 to lvl 99 image/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

    4) do you have any idea how much money is made per hour in loot (it is possible to estimate?)and how does that figure compare to the money spent on this method of ranging.

well this all depends on the luck u got. it can be possible that u only get rune scimmy's in that hour or it can be that u only get ancients staffs so this is all determet by luck
but i was always able to pay my potions back after every trip

    5) why you chose this method?
well when i started chinning i tried ape atoll first but i just dident like it thats why i did mummy's (and on the last lvls jagex did somthing wrong with ape atoll so ...)

6)how much time/money did you invest
    money around 40-50m and thats realy cheap compared to prayer image/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
time i dont actualy now this for sure when i set goals i go for them but never bother timing them since there or days that i wont train range (in this case)

how much money did u get in return and how much xp
well in the end i had around 7.5-8m in loot and gained like 10m xp so that aint to bad

  • I editted your post cuz there were a bunch of places whereyoulackedspaces

    and my inven

And btw, the spot I have in that pic is uber uber easy to do, you just run, collect the ones on the east and then stand there. But that said, I still prefer stacking... the other is just easier.
  • I like the guide, not to much reading involved, always a plus for people like me (lazy).

Just a few notes... (perhaps other members might be able to help with this information also).

I noticed minimap picture you used in #4 and #6 has 2 red dots... is the red dot significant in both instances. It seemed to me that one was talking about the red dot being for dust devils and the other was talking about it being a safe spot.... That's minor anyway, I was just a bit confused.

Also, perhaps adding meg's screenshot as an alternate invent (as you mention void) would be helpful.

I see you put information about the loot you get from these monsters, and I am sure this varies, do you have any idea how much money is made per hour in loot (it is possible to estimate?) and how does that figure compare to the money spent on this method of ranging.

Lastly, how much chinning did you do? I ask because I am curious if you could provide some insight first, into why you chose this method, and second how much time/money did you invest and what results did you get (how much money in return and how much xp)... obviously this would be specific to you but I think this sort of information might help others decide whether or not it's worth it for them to train like this.

Ok I hope none of that came off as too critical, I luv you biggrin.gif! I want to move this guide to the finish guide section, I just want to make sure you are ready and the guide is ready. If you feel it is ready, I am in total agreement, give the comments a glance and let us know what you think. Excellent guide!

    Excellent guide!

yah rly good job smile.gif i wish it wasnt so expensive tho
  • Dave, I believe the red dots are the 2 ends of the teleports. Zero suggests you go through these when they get un-agressive o.o

I like this guide tbh - looks a fair bit better than bloody ape atoll... Thanks for showing me smile.gif
  • Great guide Zero. Thanks for this because this has helped me a lot with my chinning in terms of using the pile method.
  • updated the guid with meg's picture (thanks:) )

and with dave's questions (thank u for that your now in the credits list <3)

and i think this guide is completly finished biggrin.gif

also thanks everybody for the nice replies wub.gif

but still if u have anything to add to it tips/tricks whatever leave a comment here and i'll edit it again + i'll give u cradits to it smile.gif

  • Thank you! Your guide has been approved and has been moved to the Guides forum.
  • This guide owns, I used it to get 99 range biggrin.gif

Few tips, normal chinchompas work almost as well as red's at almost half the cost, I made it out to be 200k exp per 1k regular chin's at 97 range with void and 260k with red's at the same level + gear, so it's worth it for the more money conscious.

And I take 5 range potions, 20 prayer, 1 house tab and laws + airs, that way it is easy to keep track of when you should 're-range pot'.
  • nice guide mate
  • Nice, when i get the disposable income i may just do this biggrin.gif
  • I have a new question for you zero, I don't know if you have the time to work it out, it seems pretty complex and I think there might be a lot of factors involved. Could there a formula for finding out how many chins and prayer pots are needed per range xp? Obviously this would depend on the gear also.
  • i like the guide zero, but i would have to say if u want Faster exp then that go to the skeletons in the dungeon @ ape atoll. thats what i did for magic, but magic was like 1k a burst for me so mummies was pointless as i was spending 22m.

like dave said not much reading involved for the slackers. well done
  • you might want to add this, just some research I had done and from reading other guides.

    Red Chinchompa: 27-3.1gp per exp
    Grey Chinchoma: 2.2-2.5gp per exp

That includes prices of range potions and prayer.
